The Truth About Beauty

It has been said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So imagine for a moment the beholder is the one who created you. Who knit you together (Psalm 139:13). Who chose every detail carefully and purposefully to create you exactly as you are. What if he says you are beautiful? Does that make it so? And if not, then who decides? Who is more qualified than the one who thought you up in the first place?

I will praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. Psalm 139:14, NKJV

Pause with me for a moment and consider that the creator of this vast universe with all its exquisite detail and with every creative angle at his disposal created you and me– on purpose, exactly as we are. Each detail carefully thought out and perfectly executed. And if he had it to do all over again, I’m thinking he wouldn’t change a thing.

With this truth in mind, it makes sense to believe that the only one who is qualified and has permission to speak into our lives about our beauty is the one who made us.

So what are we believing and who are we believing when it comes to our own beauty?

I often miss the mark with this. How about you?

Let’s ask him to show us. Will you join me?

God, I want to see myself and others the way you do. Give me new vision to see beauty in the way you intended for all to see it. May my life and unique beauty be an expression of the intricate creativity which is the very essence of who you are, and who you created me to be. In Jesus name, amen.
